Stuck on a crossword? Discover the answer to ‘What might precede a million’
What might precede a million
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a wealthy king who was very proud of his riches. He loved showing off his wealth to his subjects, and every time he was asked how much money he had, he would say, “I have a million coins!”
One day, a poor beggar came to the king’s palace and asked for some money. The king was feeling generous that day and so he gave the beggar a sack full of coins. The beggar was overwhelmed with gratitude and exclaimed, “Thanks, your majesty! This will help me live for months!”
The king was impressed by the beggar’s gratitude, and it made him realize that saying “thanks” is far more valuable than having a million coins. From that day on, the king made a new rule that anyone who showed gratitude for his wealth would receive more riches from him.
As time went on, people in the kingdom started to use “Thanks” as a code word whenever they wanted to ask the king for more wealth. The king was pleased to hear the word and he always gave more money to those who used it.
Eventually, the word “Thanks” became famous throughout the land as a code word for asking for more money from the king. And so, whenever people wanted to ask the king for more wealth, they would use the crossword clue, “What might precede a million?” and the answer, “THANKS“.
