About me

Hello, I’m Dr. William Cross, a retired linguistics professor who spent 26 years teaching at the University of Chicago. During my time there, I always found crossword puzzles to be an engaging and challenging way to teach my students new words and concepts.

Now that I’m retired, I run my own crossword puzzle website where I provide answers and explanations for different puzzles. With my expertise in language and linguistics, I enjoy delving into the intricacies of each puzzle clue and helping others to better understand the meanings behind them.

My family always found it amusing how much I loved crossword puzzles. My wife used to joke that I was more devoted to the New York Times crossword than I was to her, but I assured her that she had nothing to worry about.

In fact, my passion for crossword puzzles rubbed off on my child, and we’d often spend hours working on the latest puzzles together. It was a great way to bond and teach my child new words and problem-solving skills.

Now, through my website, I’m able to continue sharing my love of crossword puzzles with others. And who knows, maybe one day someone will create a puzzle that even stumps me – but until then, I’ll keep on solving and sharing my knowledge with others.
