There once was a well-known crossword creator who had a particular knack for coming up with tricky clues. One day, as he sat at his desk, an idea struck him.
“I know exactly what I’m going to do,” he thought to himself. “I’m going to create a crossword clue that’s so tough, it will fool even the most experienced solver.”
He began typing away on his computer, coming up with the perfect combination of words and letters to create the ultimate puzzle. And finally, he had it.
“Scammer.” Six letters.
He smiled to himself. This clue was going to be a challenge, he thought.
But little did he know, there was a wily conman who had been keeping tabs on him. This conman had made a career out of tricking people out of their money, and he was always on the lookout for new marks.
When he saw the crossword clue, he knew immediately what the answer was: CONMAN. And he couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a little fun.
The conman decided to leave a note for the crossword creator, bragging about how easy the clue was and how he had solved it in record time. This made the creator curious, so he sent the conman a message asking him how he had figured it out.
“Simple,” the conman wrote back. “Because I’m the ultimate scammer.”
And with that, the crossword creator realized that his puzzle had been solved by none other than a true CONMAN.
