One day, a young prince from the prosperous kingdom decided to take a walk across the river to visit the other side. He was appalled by what he saw. The people were emaciated and miserable, and the king was living in a palace filled with opulence and riches. The prince knew that he had to do something to help these poor people.

He returned to his own kingdom and spoke to his father, the wise king. Together, they came up with a plan to help the people across the river. They sent food and supplies to the other side, hoping to ease their suffering.

But the greedy king saw the aid coming from across the river and quickly realized that his own people were getting help from their enemies. He riled them up, telling them that their neighbors across the river were their “FOEs”, and that they should hate and fight against them, rather than accepting their aid.

The prince was devastated to see the two kingdoms growing further apart, even though they were so close geographically. He realized that sometimes, even our closest neighbors can become our enemies, due to fear and misunderstanding.
