On the ___ (fleeing)

Once upon a time, there was a mischievous sheep named Larry. Larry was always causing trouble on the farm where he lived. One day, he was up to his usual antics when he accidentally knocked over a pitcher of lemonade that his farmer had been preparing. The farmer was furious and started chasing after Larry, who hopped over the fence and ran off into the open fields.

As Larry was running, he heard the farmer’s shouts growing fainter in the distance. He knew he was “on the lam” – fleeing from the scene of the crime. It wasn’t long before Larry realized that he needed a place to hide out until things cooled down.

He eventually stumbled upon an old abandoned barn and made his way inside. The place was dark, dusty and full of cobwebs, but Larry felt safe as he huddled in the corner. Suddenly, he saw a faint glimmer of light coming from one of the rafters on the ceiling. As he hopped over to investigate, he discovered a crossword puzzle book that had been left behind by the previous occupants.

Larry quickly paged through the book until he reached a clue that caught his eye – “On the ___ (fleeing)”. He knew the answer right away – it was “LAM”! Larry felt proud of himself for solving the clue, and the discovery had helped take his mind off of his predicament.

Just then, he heard a rustling outside the barn’s doors. He knew the farmer must have caught up with him. With a final glance at the crossword puzzle book, Larry hopped onto the rafters and into the night sky, leaving the barn behind. As he soared through the air, he felt free and unstoppable, knowing that his clever mind had helped him escape once again. The end.
