Kind of salad made with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil

Once upon a time, there was a little Italian restaurant tucked away in a cozy corner of the city. The chef, Maria, was renowned for her delicious Caprese salad, made with just the right blend of fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and fragrant basil leaves.

One evening, a group of friends came to dine at the restaurant and decided to try the Caprese salad. But as they were savoring the delicious flavors, one of them exclaimed, “This salad is so good, it deserves its own name!”

Maria, who overheard the remark, smiled and told them the story of the origins of the Caprese salad. She revealed that it was named after the tiny island of Capri in the Bay of Naples, where the first Caprese salads were made.

The three colors of the salad – white for the mozzarella, red for the tomatoes, and green for the basil – were said to represent the colors of the Italian flag. And thus, the Caprese salad was born!
