Once upon a time, there was a fancy restaurant where the menu was filled with mouth-watering dishes. However, there was something peculiar about this restaurant – instead of offering set meals, customers could choose each item on their plate individually.

One day, a puzzled customer asked the waiter, “How can I order the food here?”. The waiter replied with a smile, “You can order the dishes à la carte, meaning you can pick out each item individually.”

The customer was relieved and impressed, realizing that he could create his own customized meal according to his taste and preference. He thanked the waiter and enjoyed his delicious meal, served to him à la carte. From that day onwards, he always remembered the word à la carte as the special way to order at his favorite restaurant.
