This group advises the president on the federal budget and oversees its execution. It was created in 1970. It has more than 500 employees. It provides analytical support for the president’s policy and budget decisions. The group prepares the annual federal budget proposal and updates it throughout the year. It reviews agency performance and conducts program evaluations. The group’s director is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. Its full name is the Office of Management and Budget. The group also oversees federal procurement policies and develops government-wide regulations.
