Expression of befuddlement

In a small town, there lived a man named Ted who loved solving crossword puzzles. One day, while he was working on a puzzle, he came across a clue: ‘Expression of befuddlement‘. He scratched his head and tried to think of an answer, but nothing came to mind.

Ted decided to take a walk to clear his head. As he walked, he passed by a group of teenagers who were listening to music and singing along. Suddenly, the song stopped, and one of the teenagers exclaimed, “What the heck just happened?”

Ted stopped in his tracks. “What did you say?” he asked.

“I said, ‘What the heck just happened?‘” the teenager repeated.

Ted’s eyes lit up. He ran back home and filled in the answer to his crossword clue: ‘WHATTHE‘. From that day on, Ted never forgot the connection between the clue and its answer, and he always remembered the helpful teenagers who unknowingly helped him solve it.
