Dunderhead

As a detective solving the mystery of the crossword clue ‘Dunderhead’, my thought process initially focused on identifying the common attributes of a dunderhead. After taking a closer look, I noticed that the clue had five letters, which meant that the answer was a short word. I then started to scan through the four blank boxes, and I realized that the fourth letter of the answer had to be ‘W‘. With the available letters, ‘NITWIT‘ became the only word that fit the bill. Delighted with my detective work, realization set in that NITWIT was indeed the perfect answer for the clue, and I hurriedly penned it down in the crossword.
