Debt notes - CHITS
Debt notes

Once upon a time, there was a small town where everyone knew everyone else. However, no one ever saw the town’s shy and introverted bookkeeper named Max. Max had a secret love for crossword puzzles, and he was so good at it that he could solve any puzzle within minutes.

One day, the town held a big fair, where everyone came out to celebrate. During the fair, a traveling merchant visited the town and offered trade goods to the residents with a currency system that Max had never seen before – ‘chits.’ Max was surprised and intrigued by the merchant’s system, and he began to observe the way it worked.

The merchant gave the residents small pieces of paper, which he called chits, every time they bought something from him. Every chit had a value assigned to it, and the residents could use them to trade for other goods and services. Soon, everyone in the town had chits, and they used them to buy anything they needed.

One day, Max was going over the town’s books and realized that the town was in debt with the merchant. He remembered the chits and realized that they were debt notes that the residents were using to pay the merchant back. Max was pleased with himself for observing and understanding the chits system.

From that day on, Max always kept a few chits in his pocket in case he needed something in a rush. And whenever he saw the crossword clue ‘Debt notes,’ he always knew the answer was ‘chits.’
