Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Tim who loved exploring the great outdoors. He went on long hikes through the wilderness, tracking animals and enjoying the beautiful scenery. On one such trek, Tim found himself approaching the edge of a steep cliff. As he peered over the brink, he marveled at the breathtaking view. Suddenly, he heard a strange noise and looked down to see a red-tailed hawk swooping in to attack him! Thinking quickly, Tim threw his walking stick at the bird, hitting it squarely on the back as it came in for the kill. The hawk plummeted down the side of the cliff, spinning wildly as it went. Tim watched as it disappeared over the rim of the canyon, feeling relieved and proud of himself for saving his own life. From that day on, he always made sure to stay away from the brink and keep his wits about him in the wilderness. And whenever he saw the word “brink” in a crossword puzzle, Tim would chuckle to himself and remember that fateful encounter with the hawk on the rim of the canyon.
