Blood work, colloquially

Once upon a time, there was a detective named Jack who was trying to solve a mystery. In the course of his investigation, he needed to take a look at some blood work. However, being a busy man, he didn’t have time to do it himself.

So Jack turned to his trusty lab assistant, a brilliant scientist named Dr. Watson. Dr. Watson worked tirelessly to analyze the blood samples, running tests and examining the smallest details under the microscope.

When Jack returned to the lab, he noticed that Dr. Watson had written “LABS” on one of the files. Jack asked him what that meant, and Dr. Watson replied that it was shorthand for “laboratories“, the place where the blood work was done.

From then on, whenever Jack needed blood work done, he simply asked for “LABS”. And soon, the term caught on among his fellow detectives, who also appreciated the ease and simplicity of the word.

Now, whenever the word “LABS” appears in a crossword puzzle, everyone knows that it’s the colloquial term for blood work. And it’s all thanks to the hard work and dedication of Dr. Watson, Jack’s brilliant lab assistant.
