Think you know the answer? Why being contrarian is the key to solving this crossword.

As a detective, the first thing I do when confronted with a crossword clue is to break it down into its individual components. In this case, the clue reads “Being contrarian is fun!” so my initial thought was that the answer must be some sort of phrase or term that relates to going against the norm. The word ‘contrarian‘ is a clear indication of that. I then looked at the length of the answer and noticed that it was a longer word/term.

After considering a few options, I realized that the phrase “disagreeing/dissenting opinion” perfectly fits the definition of being contrarian, so I wrote it in. But I noticed that “disagreeing” was one letter too long, and so tried “dissenting opinion” instead. And lo and behold, the answer was correct!

This puzzle highlights the importance of breaking down clues into their individual components and considering different options before landing on the right answer. It also shows that having a good grasp of language and vocabulary can be incredibly helpful in solving crosswords.
