Against the direction of a gust - UPWIND
Against the direction of a gust

Once upon a time, there was a mischievous and curious gust of wind named Gusty. He loved to play tricks on people by blowing their hats off and making their hair into a wild mess. But one day, Gusty decided that he wanted to do something different. He wanted to challenge himself to blow against the direction of the wind, just to see what would happen.

Gusty blew as hard as he could against the wind, but he realized it was no easy feat. He struggled and pushed with all his might, but the wind always seemed to push him back. Frustrated and exhausted, Gusty began to think he would never be able to accomplish his goal.

But then, he had an epiphany. If he blew in the opposite direction of the wind, he could create what is called “upwind“! Upwind was a new concept for Gusty, but he realized it was the perfect way to make headway against the strong gusts. He blew and blew, creating upwind, until he finally reached his destination.

And that’s how the concept of “upwind” came to be. The answer to the crossword clue “Against the direction of a gust” is UPWIND – a term inspired by the determined effort of a mischievous gust of wind named Gusty.
