There was a man named Bill who was a devoted crossword enthusiast. He spent hours each day carefully filling in the black and white squares of his crossword puzzles. One day, as he was working on his favorite puzzle, he came across a clue that completely stumped him. The clue was “2/” and it had a three-letter answer. Bill’s mind raced as he tried to think of what word could possibly fit.

As he sat there, scratching his head, his granddaughter walked in. She was only eight years old but she loved to help her grandfather with his crossword puzzles. “What’s the clue?” she asked. Bill showed her the clue and she thought for a moment before saying, “I think it means February!”

Bill was skeptical, but he decided to give it a try. He wrote “FEB” into the three-letter space and to his amazement, it fit perfectly. As Bill thanked his granddaughter for her help, he couldn’t help but wonder how she had come up with such a clever answer. She shrugged and said, “February is the 2nd month of the year, so it makes sense that the clue would be 2/!”
